Although normal meditation needs you to track your breaths in silence, imagine something or recite a mantra in your mind, sound meditation provides you with sound and sensations to reflect on. It encourages you to bring your interpretation to the moment in a manner that is far smoother and clearer.
This mindfulness meditation includes the use of sound as a medium for fostering deep relaxation and promoting it. There are various types of resources out there, but the ultimate aim is to create a soft, but strong, environment that cures the body, cleans the mind and improves the practice of meditation by serving to reel in your focus to the moment.
This is an exercise that is extremely easy, but it will help you develop effective and highly skilled listening. You may also be amazed at how many sounds that you are usually just not aware of are going on in your surroundings.
Beginners Guide to Sound Meditation includes the following instructions:
1. Choose an atmosphere in which to meditate. This meditation can be done almost everywhere, including just sitting on a bus or train.
2. Assume the pose for meditation. This meditation can also be done by sitting down, standing up, or walking. In your atmosphere, whatever is relaxed and makes more sense.
3. Set a 5-minute or 10-minute timer on your phone or computer.
4. With your eyes shut or open, you can do this work out, whatever sounds more natural to you. It can help to concentrate more on sound and not get overwhelmed by anything visible by keeping the eyes closed.
5. Create a mental record of the sound you become mindful of during the meditation. This is the primary objective of the meditation method. You can choose to begin writing it on paper as well.
6. Without judging them, try your best to make note of such sounds. Only remember what they are and, with non-judgmental awareness, listen to them.
7. Until the time is up, keep walking. Take a minute to focus on all the many sounds you've heard during the workout.
This is a good and quick way to practice becoming more conscious of the surroundings. We also have a variety of different sounds playing on at once on around, so it can be interesting to take a look back and see how many we can hear at a certain moment.
